Centrale Valutativa is an innovative start-up founded in January 2016 by a multidisciplinary team of professionals. Centrale operates in the field of public policy evaluation and tests the spin-offs of evaluation research in favour of public administration, companies and non-profit organisations.
We cultivate a passion for evaluation, because it is possible to experiment and validate the hypotheses underlying any expected change that an organization poses (public and private, mixed, etc.), promoting continuous learning.
From our statistical-probabilistic models, specific applications have been created that favour decision making by exploiting the use of quantitative (open data, big data) or qualitative (surveys, panel data) data: in agriculture (Tethys smart farming), in organizational learning (Val.o.re).
The service allows the customer (farmer and not only) to monitor the state of health of the crops, water requirements, soil fertility differentials to improve and optimize the management of the production process (less input, less energy, water savings).

BUSINESS MODEL AND SOURCE OF PROFITS
The business model is balanced on a part of evaluation and a part of big data analysis.
Profits at this stage are more related to the valuation part, while on services based on big data we have the first customers.
Competition in the market for decision support services in agriculture is constantly evolving.
There are strong and structured players, above all because they move within agreements with institutions (Land Reclamation Consortia, Regions, etc.), in other cases the services are incorporated within the supply of other services to the farmer (seeds, irrigation systems, insurance).
Our system differs from the others because the team has been able to develop and refine the algorithms for processing big data and reporting. Numerous field tests (counterfactual approach) have been carried out on different crops and can verify the validity of the estimates with respect to the presence of a sensor system on the ground.
