zeroCO2 is a benefit company and innovative startup that focuses on environmental sustainability through reforestation projects with a high social impact. We carry out reforestation, afforestation and forest conservation projects in urban and rural areas in different countries to safeguard the natural environment and improve the living conditions of the local population. Our projects promote the sustainable development of farming communities through the donation of trees and the sharing of knowledge and expertise. We donate trees to farmers in developing countries and train them in organic farming and sustainable land management techniques. Our innovative technology for traceability and transparency, CHLOE, allows us to automatically generate a unique QR code and ID that allows our customers to monitor the growth and health of their trees online and receive 7 photo updates.
Our products are mostly fruit and forest trees that are included in reforestation projects in developing countries. Reforestation is considered to be one of the most effective actions in combating the climate crisis. We work with farming communities in different places around the world to whom we donate the planted trees that our partner companies or private individuals have decided to purchase. We then train the farming communities in organic farming and sustainable land management. ZeroCO2 trees therefore have a dual impact: environmental because they offset greenhouse gases by restoring real ecosystems and social because our projects support farming communities with food and economic security.
In addition to selling the ''product'', we support our customers with green marketing services, carbon neutrality and LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) studies.
As for the features that make our projects unique, first of all, thanks to CHLOE, our tracking and transparency system, you can follow the growth of each tree and know its GPS position. When planted, each tree is labelled with its own identification code, which will then be visible in all photo updates from the 10th month of age.
Each tree is associated with a redemption code, through which it is possible to give each tree for adoption to clients and stakeholders who will receive by email 7 photographs of each tree in 3 years.
Moreover, we not only care about the environmental aspect, we also care about the social impact of our projects. Each tree is donated to local farming communities, generating economic and food support. We also develop educational activities with the farming families with whom we collaborate, training them in sustainable land use and organic agriculture.

BUSINESS MODEL AND SOURCE OF PROFITS
B2C: Sale of fruit and forest trees that are part of reforestation projects in developing countries. Private customers decide to plant trees to offset CO2 and have a positive social impact.
- Offsetting CO2e by planting trees
- CO2e compensation packages
- Pachamama: a sustainable board game to raise awareness of climate change
- Recycled pencils
- Sale of fruit and forest trees that are part of reforestation projects in developing countries. Companies decide to plant trees to offset the CO2 emitted by their own businesses or that of a specific product/service and to support families in farming communities. Our projects support the CSR and Sustainability areas of our partner companies.
- LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) study: LCA is a tool to define the environmental impact of a product, service or activity. zeroCO2 supports its partners in outlining a strategic vision, defining objectives and communication guidelines and in carrying out the various phases that make up an LCA study. After the study we support the partner in improving its environmental performance, creating a plan to offset its carbon footprint, making sustainability a driver of its brand reputation.
- Carbon Neutrality and Green marketing: We calculate the amount of CO2 that a brand/company consumes and compensate it by planting trees. We study a Green marketing plan to communicate the sustainability goals of our corporate clients.
There are several reforestation solutions on the market at national and European level. In Italy and Europe, the other actors (e.g. Treedom and Arbolia for Italy and Treenation and EcoTree for foreign countries) do not generally manage the whole value chain of their reforestation and afforestation projects in multiple locations around the world, and none of them has yet developed an innovative tracking and transparency technology like CHLOE. At the moment, the zeroCO2 solution is the only one that allows customers to track the growth and health of their trees by receiving photographic updates. Our reforestation solutions combine principles of environmental science and technological innovation. At zeroCO2 we believe that technological improvements and digital tools are key assets to generate a positive impact on the environment. Therefore, the correct use of data and digital technologies can substantially increase the impact of our activities in several ways. For example, by generating a clearer and more up-to-date picture of the soil quality and environmental status of the areas in which we work, by improving the knowledge, efficiency and traceability of all our projects, and by improving the transparency and traceability of our activities with customers.

Short description of the aspects of innovation that characterize the business enterprise
CHLOE is the most innovative element of our solution. Digital technologies have significantly increased the impact of our activities in several ways. Firstly, our experience with CHLOE has shown us that more information and transparency about reforestation activities generates more trust among customers, partners and all our stakeholders in general. Consequently, this increase in trust leads customers to want to be more involved in environmental protection. By implementing transparent tracking technology and using digital tools, we have been able to generate traction.
Our technology allows us to generate a clear and up-to-date picture of our reforestation projects, which improves the environmental status of the areas in which we operate. Our transparency leads to high levels of customer satisfaction and trust, making our solution more scalable and sustainable. Finally, CHLOE improves the efficiency of our operations and supply chain in the countries where we operate and our project management has become more efficient.
We firmly believe that investing in next-generation digital technologies makes our project even more efficient and sustainable. We believe that natural people-based solutions combined with technological innovation will improve the environmental, social and economic impact generated by our projects.
